32nd Street and Baseline Road Phoenix, Arizona Sunbelt Holdings and Carefree Partners acquired this 280 acre parcel from the Dwight D. Heard family. They formed a joint venture with Chicago-based Shell Vacations LLC to build and operate The Legacy Golf Resort—a time-share resort and adjacent resort-style residential community consisting of 479 homesites offered by three premiere homebuilders: Engle Homes, Cachet Homes and Centex Homes. The resort theme is reminiscent of Phoenix in the early 1900’s, reflecting historical features of the former Heard Ranch listed on the Phoenix Historic Property Registry. The Legacy Golf Resort contains 164 time-share units, a 22,000-square-foot clubhouse and marketing center, an administrative center and a championship Gary Panks-designed golf course that hosted the 2001 LPGA Standard Register PING Golf Tournament. Other recreational amenities include a resort-style swimming pool, tennis courts, a health/fitness center, spa treatments, pro shop, limited-menu dining area, children’s recreation areas and jogging/hiking trails. Sunbelt Holdings’ involvement in The Legacy Golf Resort included both investment and management. |
